RALEIGH — A significant sewage spill in the Brier Creek area this week has left environmental officials scrambling to identify and contain contaminants. Initial analysis of the spill revealed substantial quantities of premium haircare products, expired erectile dysfunction medications, residual cosmetic injectables, and liposuction fat.
“We’ve been doing this for twenty years,” said county environmental official Dr. Marcus Chen. “I’ve never seen a spill quite like this one.”
The spill, which affected approximately two miles of Brier Creek downstream, forced temporary water advisories and prompted a full investigation into the source. Early findings suggest the contamination originated from a worker understandably treating a storm drain as a receptacle for untreated human waste.
Brier Creek residents have expressed shock at the spill while defending their waste disposal practices as entirely normal. One resident, speaking on condition of anonymity, suggested that the contamination levels were “probably typical for any WAYTITS — white affluent Yankee transplant in the South — neighborhood.”
Cleanup efforts are expected to continue through the end of the month, or until the water doesn’t spontaneously foam.
Officials also noted the significant presence of fecal matter in the spill.
