The Publication of Record for the Greater Raleigh Metropolitan Area and Its Discontents
News, politics & correct opinions from Raleigh & the lesser surrounding area

Ungrammared was founded in Raleigh, North Carolina in 2014 with the intent to cover local news, politics, and the lesser surrounding area with the rigor and seriousness those topics deserve. It has done so intermittently.

The publication suspended operations in 2016 for what editors described at the time as "a brief hiatus." The hiatus lasted until 2022, at which point operations resumed, then suspended again, then resumed. The current editorial team has agreed not to raise this publicly.

Ungrammared is independent. It has no investors, no editorial board, and no operational budget to speak of. These facts are presented not as weaknesses but as evidence of a principled commitment to the kind of journalism that does not require a budget.

All stories published in Ungrammared are works of satire. They are fictional. Any resemblance to actual events, persons living or dead, or actual governance is coincidental and, in the case of governance, deeply concerning. Ungrammared does not accept corrections from subjects of its reporting. It does, however, issue corrections of its own accord, frequently.

The Masthead

Ungrammared employs a small number of writers and contributors. Several have asked that their full names not be used. We have respected this where feasible.

Kent Davison
Staff Writer
City Hall & Local Government

Kent has covered Raleigh city government since 2018 and has developed what colleagues describe as 'a productive indifference' to the proceedings.

D. Henderson
Staff Writer
State Legislature & Politics

D. Henderson has covered the NC General Assembly for eleven sessions and maintains that the eleventh has been the strangest, a claim he has made of every session.

M. Kessler
Staff Writer
Campaigns & Elections

M. Kessler covers campaigns with the patience of someone who understands that the race will be called by 10 p.m. regardless of what she writes.

Patricia Vance
Features Editor & Contributing Writer
Long-form, Investigations

Patricia Vance's work has appeared in Ungrammared and, at one point, in a now-defunct publication she declines to name.

Brad Kellerman
Contributing Columnist
Opinion, New Resident Affairs

Brad Kellerman moved to Raleigh in 2023 from a place he describes as 'a real city' and has been writing op-eds since approximately his third week here.

Linda Thorn
Contributing Columnist
Small Business, Main Street

Linda Thorn has owned Thorn's Fine Framing on Glenwood Avenue since 2001 and has strong opinions about everything that has happened since.

Ungrammared is published by Ungrammared Media LLC, a North Carolina limited liability company that has never been profitable and does not anticipate becoming so. Editorial decisions are made by the editorial staff. Business decisions are made by whoever picks up the phone.
